About The Artist
"I have measured my life in coffee spoons and yards of yarn." – T.S. Eliot
Early Beginnings
My creative journey began at a very early age. I learned to sew before I was 12. My passion for fiber arts grew steadily: as a teenager, I picked up crochet, and in my twenties, I learned to knit. Over time, I continued discovering new crafts, such as spinning, weaving, and hand-dyeing. Yarn quickly became my obsession, opening endless possibilities for creativity.
Finding Comfort and Inspiration
Knitting was my go-to comfort and stress relief while I was in the US Navy. That strong connection made me start thinking—what if I could turn my love for knitting into a business? Around the same time, I got my first chance to teach by leading knitting classes at the USO. Sharing what I knew with others was so much fun and really showed me how much I enjoy teaching and spreading my love of this craft.
Taking the First Steps
In 2019, shortly after leaving active duty, I began exploring the idea of opening my own yarn shop. Circumstances—including the COVID lockdown—delayed my plans, but I trusted in the Lord’s timing. Meanwhile, I started dyeing spinning fiber and selling it on Etsy.
Expanding My Craft
After the lockdown and other significant life events, I thought, “If I can dye spinning fiber, why not yarn too?” The chance to sell my hand-dyed yarn at a local boutique arrived, and later, I moved to a larger boutique mall. I also enjoy connecting with customers at fairs and vendor events, sharing my love for yarn and hand-knit items.
Looking Ahead
I am thrilled to be on this journey and deeply grateful for the support from family and customers. Thank you!
Seriously,
~Crystal
